TAG Heuer

The luxury brand name of TAG Heuer was founded in 1860 by Edouard Heuer. The fascination for technique and the absolute will, to keep on improving techniques, made TAG Heur into one of the most innovative businesses in the branch. The company got its name in 1985 after a merger with the Techniques d'Avant Garde Group to place - in short TAG. During the more than 160 years of the company's history, the firm from Saint-Imier has made a lot of new discoveries, amongst other things a worldwide first patent for stopwatch mechanisms, in 1882, the first chronograph with a hundredths of a second display, as well as Chronograph tidal information and dial for regattas. In 1969 Tag Heuer attracted a lot of attention with its development of the first automatic chronograph movement, later as quartz watches celebrated their triumph; it was TAG Heuer, which presented the first quartz chronograph analogous dial. TAG Heuer also created innovations after the turn of the century: the first mechanical watch movement with ceramic bearings, linear vibrations and belt drive. Then in 2005 came the most incredible new development from out of the TAG Heuer house: a mechanical chronograph with 1/1000stel accuracy of measurement.

It is exactly this precision that makes TAG Heuer a prime example when it comes to measuring time at large sporting events: At Formula 1 or the Olympic Games, the Amercian Indy 500 race or the Skiing World Championships. TAG Heuer is as official time keeper always present. TAG Heuer has bought many special series out on the market together with the Formula 1 racing teams, Mc Laren Mercedes and Ferrari. As advertising partners for the watch series Kirium, personalities such as Brad Pitt, Uma Thurman, Kimi Räikkönen, Juan Pablo Montoya or Tiger Woods have been used. The latter is also the figurehead for launching the 2002 series of glasses "Sport, Vision Eyewear". Today TAG Heuer is a part of the French luxury concern LVMH.
