A. Lange & Söhne
The watch company A. Lange & Söhne, was originally founded by Ferdinand Adolph Lang in Glasshütte in the German Federal State of Sachsen. The company was closed down during the war, and it wasn't until shortly after the reunification of East and West Germany in 1990, that Walter Lange once again established A. Lange & Söhne. The newly founded company Lange GmbH accepted world-wide trademark rights. And just like his grand father he devoted himself to producing top quality. Today, the company, which in the meantime has been bought by the Richemont Group, A. Lange invests up to one year into the manufacturing of its luxury watches. The speciality: the watches are assembled twice. During the first assembly, the precision watchmakers tune all mechanisms to coordinate perfectly together. After many months of work, when the watch is working perfectly - the watch is taken apart again. This is really unique, in the art of precision watch making. The so called finisseur then give the last final touch giving all the watch parts a final last strip grinding, sunray brushed, perlage, or engraving. Even the smallest parts, which cannot be seen later through the glass back, receive the unique characteristics of the best Glasshütter manufacturing traditions.
The most famous models made by watch maker A. Lange & Son are the models Nr. 1, Datograph, Saxonia, Langematik and Langematik Perpetual.
