Breguet
A luxury watch with a truly "royal" history: founded in 1775 by Abraham-Louis Breguet, the manufacturer's, with their technical innovations, appealed to the tastes of King Ludwig the XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette. Other European royals followed suit and Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were soon to be customers. The brand name quickly became very popular amongst the European elite: diplomats, academics, royals and high ranking military officers wore watches from Breguet. The list of customers reads just like a list of who's who in the history of Europe: Napoleon Bonaparte, Czar Alexander 1. of Russia, King George III of England, Empress Marie-Louise, General Davidoff, Baron Rothschild, the Duke of Marlborough, the Duke of Wellington, the Duke of Norfolk, King Louis XVIII of France, Sir Winston Churchill, Arthur Rubinstein, Ettore Bugatti, Sergej Rachmaninoff, King Faruk of Egypt, the Duke of Windsor and many other influential people. But its excellent name was not only because of the circle of elite customers. Technical innovations have determined the company's history: Milestones in the art in the progress of specialist watch making have been made by Breguet: the perfecting of automatic watches, the discovery of tone springs for repeater watches. The perfecting of original work parts, cylinder or the anchor tourbillon are just a few things that the watchmaker Breguet has discovered, developed and made to perfection. In 1999 the company joined the portfolio of the Swiss Swatch Group.
The most notable models from Breguet: Linie Classique, Type XX Transatlantique and Grandes Complications, a model with a tourbillion, perpetual calendar and minute repetition.
