Blancpain
The very moving story of the oldest watchmaker in the world, Blancpain, began in the year of 1735. Founded by Jehan Jacques Blancpain, the company was still family property until 1932. Turbulent years then followed, until during the 1970's when it completely disappeared from the market. It is thanks no less to Jean-Claude Biver and Jacques Piguet, who re-founded Blancpain in 1983, and is now part of the great history of this brand. Under the guidance of the two, it was decided to keep up the old strengths, but nevertheless to adapt the inheritance of the brand to the modern trends of today. The company was then later sold to the Swiss Swatch Group, who is responsible today for the selling of the Blancpain brand.
The most notable ranges of wristwatches from Blancpain are Villeret and Leman, called after the French name for Lake Geneva - Lac Léman.
